About us
the customer connection is a collective of independent consultants with one sole aim; that is to help individuals and organisations make more effective and efficient connections with their customers. The managing partners of this enterprise are
Mark ter Haar and myself, David Hale.
Mark and I first met whilst working at Learning International’s European Headquarters in Chiswick, London. Mark was head of Product Development, customising and developing training programmes and solutions for the UK and European markets, whilst I was involved in training delivery and adding value to the organisation’s customer relationships.
In 2001, we jointly undertook the UK and European customisation of a major new customer care programme called “The Service Difference”. Whilst working together, we came to realise that although our commercial backgrounds and experiences were very similar, our standards, beliefs and values were too.
It comes as no surprise then, that having become independent, freelance consultants, we decided to collaborate once again in the areas of strategy development, process design, programme design, coaching and solution delivery. This joint venture allows us to bring our similar, as well as our not-so-similar thoughts and ideas to the table when developing interventions and
solutions for our clients, which means that, for those clients, the final outcome is a richer and longer lasting relationship with their own customers.
Why the customer connection? We thought long and hard for a name, but as often happens the ideal fit is there right in front of you. Since everything that we are involved in, within clients, is about connecting with customers, both internal customers as well as external ones, the name became obvious.
Our work involves helping clients ensure that their strategy and processes are aligned with their customers’ expectations and that their people have the beliefs, values, behaviours and skills to deliver on those expectations, so as to develop long term, sustainable relationships with the customer base.
The fact that the customer connection is an umbrella name for our collaboration doesn’t mean that we have to work within the confines of a formal partnership. This means that, should the occasion arise, and a client requires help in an area that’s outside of our collective area of expertise, we can draw on that expertise from an outer circle of trusted, independent associates, and still help that client under
the customer connection banner.
